The Silken Windhound of California Club (SWC)

Welcome to the official website for the first regional Silken Windhound Club in the United States.

We are a passionate group of Silken Windhound fanciers that have expanded from a small but hardworking bunch in California to now include pet owners, exhibitors and breeder members throughout the Western United States. We hold International Silken Windhound Society breed specialty shows, and UKC Sighthound specialty and all-breed conformation shows, health clinics, LGRA straight racing, ASFA lure coursing, and educational seminars.

We started holding gatherings to celebrate the breed in 2000 and started having ISWS shows in 2003. We were the first Silken Windhound club to be an LGRA club, and the first Silken Windhound club to be an ASFA club, even before our parent club. We were also the first breed club to earn the ability to hold UKC shows. Individual dogs of our members have also gone on to garner many, many firsts in multiple venues for this breed.

We are the founding hosts of the Western Regional Silken Windhound Specialty Show “Boofest” that takes place in Northern California every October, and has for over two decades. We are fortunate that our central western location allows for people to attend from as far north as Canada, as far south as Mexico, and from pretty far inland in the United States.
